Westlands gets perfect replacement for Tim Wanyonyi
As Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi shifts his political base to Bungoma County, the void he leaves in the Nairobi constituency has seemingly found its perfect replacement.
Ever since he announced that he will not be defending his Westlands seat, many names have popped up setting up what is billed as one of the hottest contests for the seat ever witnessed.

Tim, as he is fondly referred to by his constituents, has been one of the best performing legislators, ranked among the top across the country for many years.
Soft spoken, yet firm in service delivery, Tim has positioned the constituency among the most attractive for many who want to associate with fine things.
Scores of politicians including MCAs from the constituency, have indicated desire to replace Tim in 2027 with the likes of Alvin Palapala and Advocate Nelson Havi positioning themselves as the best fits.
Also, word on the street is that the son of PCS Musalia Mudavadi is being groomed to throw his hat in the ring.
However, one name stands out. Benard Mwonyonyo.
Mwonyonyo, suave and smooth talking, has been serving under the wings of Tim as the Constituency Manager, tasked with meticulously running the constituency’s affairs.
Behind the scenes, not seen but felt, Mwonyonyo has been one of the vital engines of the turnaround of Westlands Constituency.
Espousing the salient traits of his boss, Mwonyonyo has a strong grip on the constituency and stands out as the perfect fit to continue with the legacy of Tim.
In the last elections, Mwonyonyo served as the Head of Secretariat (HoS) of Tim’s Gubernatorial campaigns, weaving one of the most formidable campaign team that rattled the City’s politics.
In his capacity as the HoS, Mwonyonyo was instrumental in rallying countywide support for Tim as he easily convinced both party leaders and those in other parties to throw their weight behind Tim.
A strategic mobiliser, non-tribal and with the gift of the gab, Mwonyonyo comes to the race as the frontrunner with his perceived opponents grappling with identity and a lack of bearing in the area’s politics, Mwonyonyo has since declared his intention to take over the wheels from behind the scenes and onto the frontline.
“When we say Hon (Tim) is a performer, and if he is a performer and I work with him, Am I not a performer?” Mwonyonyo posed in a recent public engagement forum.
He dismissed those eyeing the post as non-performers and not aligned with the aspirations of the people of Westlands.
According to him, he is ready to protect the legacy of Tim on an ODM party ticket.
