Education is my top priority, Malava MP David Ndakwa says

The newly elected Malava MP, David Ndakwa, has promised to give education first priority as he starts his tenure.

Ndakwa said that, just like his predecessor, the late Malulu Injendi, he would give education all the attention it deserves.

The MP, who was speaking at Shitirira Primary School, where he together with president William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet led a funds drive to construct a dining hall, said that an educated society is not only a benefit to the constituency but also to the country.

He said he will be meeting the Malava advisory committee starting January 2026 to discuss the way forward on education matters in the constituency.

“We want to better education standards in Malava and we are planning to have a master plan that will arrange the constituency’s education calendar to allow the smooth running of the programmes in place. Already, we have begun distributing bursary forms for applicants in secondary schools, tertiary institutions and universities across the constituency,” said Ndakwa.

He urged parents to make good use of the bursaries by applying on time before the closing date to be eligible to receive the funds.

Ndakwa also said that some of the bursary funds will be used to develop school infrastructure, which will in turn improve results.

He lauded the recent visit by the NG-CDF board from the headquarters to inspect ongoing Malava NG-CDF projects, including one funded at a cost of KSh 8 million at Luhokho Primary School in South Kabras Ward.

The MP said education should be supported at all costs, noting that Malava has benefited from a bursary allocation of almost KSh 200 million each financial year.

Presidential aide Farouk Kibet, who was the chief guest during the occasion at Shitirira Primary School where he donated KSh 1 million towards the renovation of the dining hall, said the government will continue to support education projects in Malava as per the promise made following the death of the former MP.

He asked parents to change their attitude towards education and fully embrace the initiative.

Kibet, who is on record for assisting several schools within the constituency during the by-election campaigns, pointed out that it was important for education matters to be fully prioritised in Malava.

At the same time, he applauded the school for its continued good results and pledged to hold a celebration for teachers and pupils on 10th January 2026, when learning resumes, as a way of motivating them for their good work and commitment.

“The government is investing heavily in education, having increased its budget allocation because it understands its importance to the country,” he noted.
