Barasa hails Ndakwa’s stunning Malava victory as Broad-Based wave sweeps Kenya
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has congratulated David Ndakwa (UDA) for clinching the Malava legislative seat in the just-ended by-election.
The governor, who led a team of leaders to David Ndakwa’s home to congratulate and celebrate the important win, said the victory, together with others under the ODM banner, was a major political statement being passed to the opposition.
While addressing the residents who had gathered at Ndakwa’s home after he was declared the winner, garnering 21,564 against Seth Panyako of DAP Kenya with 20,210, Barasa said the people of Malava and Kenya in general had spoken their minds clearly that they were firmly behind the broad-based formation.
“The Malava UDA win, coupled with other ODM victories across the country, demonstrates the rising influence of the broad-based government and is a clear indicator of the 2027 victory for him and President William Ruto as they both seek their second-term re-election,” he assured.
The governor urged the elected leaders to embrace unity and focus on delivering to the people of Kakamega.
He said the voice of the Malava voters had been heard throughout the country and should be respected at all costs.
“Malava being in government and with its (UDA) victory, you have removed the shame of joining the opposition and brought joy and jubilation to us Mulembe leaders and the government as a whole,” he said.
At the same time, he called on the united opposition to read the signs, as the broad-based government was here to stay and growing stronger every day.
“Going by the by-election results in Malava (UDA), Magarini (ODM), Baringo (UDA), Mbeere (UDA), Ugunja (ODM), and Kasipul Kapondo (ODM) was a clear indication that the broad-based government was the people’s favourite formation,” he recapped.
He said the broad-based government had proved its political prowess and that come 2027, it would be a force to reckon with, and no opposition would match its political manoeuvres.
Barasa thanked the broad-based government under the stewardship of President William Ruto and assured the residents that come 2027 they would sail through the coalition. He cautioned the united opposition to put their house in order, as there was very stiff competition being displayed by their opponents.
Presidential aide Farouk Kibet asked Ndakwa to incorporate all the Malava residents, including those who voted for his opponents, as they all belong to Malava and to him as their MP.
He said it was time to put all political differences aside, embrace his opponents, and work together for the sake of the Malava people.
Kibet thanked the women voters of Malava for standing by Ndakwa and voting him in as their MP.
Ndakwa lauded President Ruto for allowing him to contest through the UDA party, terming the gesture as beyond the call of duty from him.
He also expressed his gratitude to his political mentor and godfather Musalia Mudavadi for holding his hand throughout his political journey as the West Kabras (ANC) MCA until now, when he emerged as the Malava MP.
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula stated that Ndakwa deserved the win considering his vigorous campaigns that had finally borne fruit.
