Be peaceful, IEBC official tells Malava MP aspirants

Candidates seeking the Malava parliamentary seat in the November by-election have been asked to remain peaceful as they conduct their campaigns.

According to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Kasarani Coordinator Amosi Mmbaka Chilai, the candidates should ensure their supporters keep peace during this electioneering time.

“They should shun from abusive politics and politics of hatred as they are brothers,” said Chilai.

Declaring that he had no preferred candidate in the November 27 by-election, Chilai asked locals to elect a leader who will represent them well in parliament.

He revealed that the Commission was set to carry out the by-election and several others countrywide adding the polls will be free and fair.

He said: “The Commission is committed at ensuring that the process is quite smooth.”

Chilai said this during the funeral service of the late Dainah Makola held in Malava. The deceased was wife to former councillor Francis Makola.

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Edgar Mwanga Busiega who was present echoed Chilai’s sentiments stating that politics was not a matter of life and death.

He described himself as the best suited person to take up the seat saying has he has good plans that will benefit the residents.

He cited the issuance of constituency bursaries which he said will be undertaken at the grassroot level, if elected, to ensure that it benefits all in the area .
