Why UDA candidate may win Malava MP seat

The race for the Malava parliamentary seat is hotting up, with the by-election to replace the late MP Malulu Injendi, who died early this year, set for November 27 fast approaching.

More than ten candidates are ready to battle it out.

Among those who have declared interest and are seriously crisscrossing the constituency are Seth Panyako, David Ndakwa, Wilberforce Tuvei, Leonard Shimaka, Simon Kangwana, and Rhyan Injendi.

Also, Joab Manyasi, Samuel Tsimbwela and Edgar Busiega have maintained they will be on the ballot.

But even as the election day draws closer, it is becoming evident that the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party candidate may win against the opposition, as electorates now seem to be leaning towards the government after a series of goodies have been poured into the area.

With the planned launch of the tarmacking of the Malava–Samitsi road, which will boost economic activities between the three counties of Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia, the electorate now feel that the government is delivering on its manifesto and needs to be supported by voting in an individual aligned to it.

Recently, government bigwigs have been flocking to the area, led by President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, through empowerment programs that have seen many self-help groups and individual members benefit.

In addition, several schools have received funding to improve infrastructure.

President Ruto is also set to launch the operationalisation of the Malava Kenya Medical Training College.
