Disgraced goalkeeper Patrick Matasi slapped with suspension over match-fixing claim

Kenyan goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has been handed a three months suspension by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over match-fixing allegations.
In a statement, FKF said Matasi will not take part in all the federations sanctioned activities during the time of suspension as it launches investigations onto the matter.
The move came following concerns raised by videos circulating on social media suggesting the shot stopper might have been involved in match manipulation.
The statement revealed that the federation had taken the step in accordance with Section VII(2) of FKF Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations (2016) adding it was working with FIFA , CAF and other relevant authorities in probing the matter.
It further said that it has made official communication to Kakamega Homboyz FC that Matasi plays for and the player himself.
“The federation remains committed to upholding integrity in football and ensuring fair and transparent process for all involved parties,” the statement read in part.
Kakamega Homeboyz FC chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has however said Matasi will remain part of the team despite the allegations.
The embattled goalkeeper is said to have been captured on a video allegedly showing him negotiating a deal to manipulate the outcome of a game.
Matasi played for St. Georgias of Ethiopia, AFC Leopards FC, Posta Rangers and lately Police FC before moving to Kakamega Homeboyz.
