Stop unnecessary competition, lets work for the people, Mahelo calls on colleagues

A member of the County Assembly of Kakamega has called on elected leaders to work for the people and stop unnecessary competition, explaining that all the electorate wants to see is development not who did it.
Mr Kevin Mahelo, the Chegulo/Butali MCA who spoke at a public participation event at the Malava Town Council grounds, also revealed plans to have the two factories of West Kenya and Butali Sugar Mills retain half the cess money in the coming days for maintaining roads in the area.
He noted that the roads were in pathetic state and something needs to be done immediately.
West Kenya remits close to Kshs3 million to the County Government of Kakamega while Butali pays around Ksh1.8million monthly as cess, but the money is used to maintain roads in other areas of the county.
On other development issues, Mahelo asked the county Governor Fernandes Barasa to fast track the completion and operationalise Tumbeni Dairy Plant, equip and expand Malava subcounty level 4 hospital, complete the construction and upgrade of the Butali-Malekha road to bitumen before the people of Malava can reconsider giving him a second term in office.
Mahelo said Barasa may get the shock of his life should he not listen to the people and address their grievances.
While hailing the ongoing process of upgrading Malava urban centre to municipality status, Mahelo noted that the employment opportunities that come with it should be reserved for the people of Malava, including those to sit on the board.
