Good news as Governor announces start of bursary distribution

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has declared that his administration will recommence the distribution of bursaries to underprivileged students in the county, following a hiatus due to financial constraints.

Addressing a congregation in Lurambi church on July 7, he outlined that the bursary distribution exercise will commence from Tuesday, and continue through the week until Friday.

Furthermore, Governor Barasa expressed concerns over the financial operations of counties, attributing ongoing difficulties to delays in disbursement of funds from the national government.

He revealed that Kakamega County, like many others, has not received allocated funds since April of this year, impacting essential services and development projects.
