Tim, Sakaja meet traders as Kangemi modern market plans take shape

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi joined Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Kangemi MCA Hamisi Maleya and Kitisuru MCA Alvin Palapala in a consultative meeting with the leadership of Kangemi Harambee Market and Kinare Market to deliberate on plans for the construction of a modern market in Kangemi.

The proposed facility will feature over 1,500 stalls, providing organized and dignified trading spaces for traders while improving sanitation, safety and accessibility.

The project will be implemented by the National Government through the State Department for Housing and Urban Development following a cooperation agreement signed between the National Government and Nairobi City County Government to accelerate the delivery of key development projects in the city.

Through the partnership, the two levels of government are collaborating to deliver major infrastructure including modern markets, affordable housing, roads and other urban services aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening Nairobi’s economy.

Hon. Wanyonyi reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with traders, market leadership and residents to ensure the project meets the real needs of the community and creates a better business environment for local traders.
