Barasa inspects Kakamega Referral hospital, says health a priority

Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has said his administration will continue investing in modernizing county health facilities to ensure residents receive quality and affordable service.

This, he added will enhance service quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Barasa said this on Monday evening when he conducted an inspection tour of the Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The Governor got a brief on the status of the ongoing construction of the mega health facility.

Barasa expressed satisfaction on how the construction works were going on noting that the project is progressing well under a joint funding model between the National and the county governments.

He revealed that the national government had released KSh 1 billion to go to the construction of facilities noting it s expected to be completed within the next nine months.

Upon completion, the hospital will serve as the National Referral Hospital for Western Kenya, greatly expanding access to specialized and advanced medical services for millions of residents.

He said it will feature state-of-the-art medical equipment

The hospital, Barasa stated, will complement county health services by easing pressure on existing facilities and improving the overall referral network beyond the Lake Region Economic Bloc area.
