Stop blocking Western’s 30% promised slots, Khalwale warned

Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale has been accused of being a stumbling block toward the realization of the region’s 30% promised slots.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Vice Chairman, Kelvin Lunani, spoke during a church service in Malava Constituency, where he said Khalwale was blocking the region from receiving its promised slots in government by politicizing everything the government delivers to the region.

He said it was time Western voters voted him out to give way to a visionary and development-oriented leader who would support government initiatives.

“As the UDA Vice Chairman, I’m going to file a petition to have Khalwale dropped as Kakamega Senator as he is opposing the government he serves,” he revealed.

He said as leaders, they were rallying behind Musalia Mudavadi’s presidential ambitions and would not tolerate criticism from the likes of Dr. Boni Khalwale, who were not ready to support their own for the top seat.

“Khalwale is not to be trusted here in the Malava political arena as he betrayed the late Soita Shitanda, who was then seeking to be the Kakamega County Governor, by duping him to campaign for him as Senator, where he got over 40,000 votes in Malava against a handful of votes in Khalwale’s home turf,” he said.

He called on the Mulembe nation to pledge their support behind Musalia Mudavadi to take up the leadership mantle from William Ruto.

“Musalia is fit to take over from President Ruto, and he has all the qualities and experience. His journey starts here in Malava when you vote in David Ndakwa as your next MP,” he said.

He added that by electing Ndakwa, the constituency’s resources would be safeguarded to benefit the Malava people.

Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera also praised the benefits of being in government and cautioned Malava residents against voting for the opposition.

“We were not elected on a UDA ticket, but through the broad-based government, we are in government, and we are seeing the fruits of being in government,” he stated.

Butere MP Tindi Mwale, who is also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in Parliament, called on the youth, women, and men to register for the Nyota Programme to assist them in uplifting their lives through small and micro enterprises (SMEs).

Lurambi MP Titus Khamala warned the electorate against making political mistakes, saying they are very costly.

“You Malava people make the right decision by voting for the UDA candidate, and you will see development,” he urged.

UDA candidate David Ndakwa called for a fair and peaceful by-election.

“I want to call on the Malava people to vote for me but not to bleed for me to lead, as we can vote peacefully without violence and animosity,” he pleaded.

Principal Secretary for the State Department for Higher Education, Dr. Betty Inyangala, hailed both Musalia Mudavadi and Presidential Aide Farouk Kibet for presenting her to President William Ruto, who appointed her as PS for Higher Education after her bid to become Deputy Governor for Kakamega County flopped.

She said the government would also appoint the three UDA aspirants who lost in the Malava nominations to various positions.

She told the Malava residents to vote for the UDA candidate.

“Kenya is huge, and in order to have development, you need to have good leaders in government to push for their electorate’s development agendas,” she said.

She added that Malava has been in government and is now witnessing development, with the President expected to visit this week to commission the Malava KMTC and the tarmacking of the Malava–Navakholo road.

Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana supported the Ndakwa factor in government and observed that the opposition traversing Malava had no development agenda, only hate speech against the government.

His Ikolomani counterpart, Bernard Shinali, who is also the acting Malava MP, said Malava was the only constituency in the Western region that has solidly remained in government and expressed hope that the coming by-election victory would be for the government side.

Presidential Aide Farouk Kibet assured the UDA aspirants who lost in the Malava nominations of employment in the government.

He advised the opposition to sell their agendas elsewhere, saying Malava was fully in government.

He appreciated the three (Simon Kangwana, Leonard Shimaka, and Rhyan Injendi) for swallowing their pride and agreeing to support David Ndakwa’s candidature.

Farouk confirmed that the government was committed to initiating development in the constituency since it lost its MP early this year.

He criticized the opposition for its empty rhetoric in the constituency and urged locals to support the government, noting that Mudavadi was being groomed to take over from William Ruto after his tenure as President expires.

The leader urged the Mulembe nation to support Musalia’s bid for higher office instead of dressing him down, affirming that he was the Mulembe kingpin.
