Sudi vows to monetise Kenya’s performing arts industry
The newly appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Film Commission, Sudi Wandabusi, has assured Kenyans of his commitment to revolutionising Kenya’s performing arts industry by ensuring artists reap the financial rewards of their work.
Speaking during the funeral of Xavier Jerry Busolo Nato, a renowned actor and scriptwriter, at Mukhuma Primary School, Sudi underscored the President’s directive for his tenure: to prioritize the monetization of performing arts and ensure that the benefits reach deserving stakeholders.
“The President has one key expectation from me at the Kenya Film Commission — to ensure performing arts is monetized and that money actually gets to the deserving beneficiaries. This is a mandate I am fully committed to achieving with the support of all industry stakeholders,” he stated.
The late Mr. Nato, celebrated for his iconic roles in television dramas like Tahidi High and his mentorship of budding artists, was hailed as a beacon in Kenya’s vibrant theater and television landscape. His passing marks a profound loss to the arts fraternity.
Sudi expressed his gratitude to the President for recognizing the critical role of the arts in shaping Kenya’s cultural and social fabric.
He pledged to work closely with key players to unlock the sector’s financial potential, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for artists.
The funeral service drew family, friends, and members of the arts community, who eulogized Nato as a passionate artist and mentor whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
