Busia inks deal for free medical services at major hospital

The County Government of Busia has partnered with AIDEX and Rainbow for Africa Kenya to offer Free Medical Services at the Sio Port Health Facility.

The Department of Health and Sanitation, in collaboration with AIDEX and Rainbow for Africa Kenya Chapter on Tuesday, July 2 celebrated 30 years of providing health support in local public health facilities at Sio Port Health Facility in Samia Sub-County.

The two-week free medical camp offered various services including surgeries, nutrition, ultrasound, laser treatment, general medical care, physiotherapy, and pathology, among others.

The Director of Services Delivery, Ms Moreen Anyango, applauded AIDEX and Rainbow for Africa for their support to the County Government of Busia adding that the camp came at the right time, allowing patients who had initially been affected by the doctors’ strike to receive much-needed services.

She called upon other global partners willing to support health initiatives to come on board emphasizing that health services are always in demand.

Dr. Frank Wanyama, a lecturer at the University of Nairobi and Chairman of Rainbow Africa, revealed that 47 successful surgeries had been performed since they came to Sio port, encouraging patients, not only from Busia County but also from neighboring Siaya County to avail themselves and benefit from the services.

The County Government of Busia remains committed to providing quality health services to its residents for their overall well-being.
