Lusaka applauds Bungoma teams for stellar performance at KICOSCA finals
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has commended the county’s sports teams for their impressive performance at the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games, held in Kakamega County.
The five-day sporting event concluded with Bungoma’s ladies’ volleyball team finishing as runners-up after a spirited match against Uasin Gishu County.
Despite a 4-1 defeat in the finals at Booker Academy Secondary School, the team displayed remarkable skill and determination.
Governor Lusaka praised the athletes for representing Bungoma with distinction and bringing pride to the county.
“You played exceptionally well, and while the best teams emerged as winners, your effort and commitment have been outstanding,” he said.
The Governor encouraged the players to maintain their hard work and aim for victory in next year’s games.
He also acknowledged the challenges they faced, including operating without adequate allowances, and assured them of improved support in the future.
“I understand the tough circumstances you endured, but I promise that we will address the issue of allowances going forward,” Lusaka stated.
He attributed the financial constraints to delayed disbursements from the national treasury but expressed optimism that such hurdles would be resolved.
Also in attendance was Sports, Gender, Youth, and Culture Executive Benedict Emachar, alongside other senior county officials, who joined the Governor in congratulating the teams for their commendable performance.
The KICOSCA games brought together counties from across the nation, fostering unity and showcasing diverse talent in various sports disciplines.
